Head Teacher's Message
Harefield Primary School is a nurturing and vibrant school, serving Harefield and Bitterne, where the children are at the heart of all that we do. Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We have three simple rules that are also the values of the school:
- Be Aspirational
- Be Safe
- Be Kind
These are woven through the curriculum and the wider school day, ensuring that all learners are motivated, happy and secure, achieving well academically and socially.
Our Aims
Every pupil will be able to read with pace, fluency and a good level of comprehension by the end of Year 6 to provide them with the very best opportunities to succeed at secondary school.
Pupils throughout the whole school will achieve their full potential in their learning to enhance their own life chances and aspirations.
Pupils will engage in a well-planned and progressive curriculum, relevant to their needs, that offers enriched learning in a stimulating environment.
The school becomes the centre of a happy and healthy community that builds confidence and self-esteem and celebrates achievement.
Our Vision
We will instil a sense of aspiration in every child, helping them to feel confident in themselves and their abilities. Our school is a place where respect for each other, oneself, and the school is second nature, and kindness is a natural part of our behaviour. Every child will feel safe coming to school and know that the adults will be the duty-bearers of their rights. All members of our community are valued and heard, and their successes are celebrated.
We will ensure a culture that makes our school a place where students are excited to learn and be present. We work with our families to provide numerous opportunities and activities, to enrich learning, bringing a sense of fun to the curriculum. We prepare our students to pursue opportunities in the wider world with self-belief, motivation, and a can-do attitude. Through this and effective, innovative teaching, we will ensure that our learners make strong academic progress and develop a life-long love of learning.
Ultimately, we want every child to have belief in themselves, to feel worthy, and to enjoy being at school every day.
We value the contributions of all our stakeholders, including parents and carers, in order to achieve this vision and aims.
